Behind the Prints: How Interior Design Inspires Our Pajama Collections | Dream in Style

Luxury bamboo pajamas for kids with interior design-inspired prints — Shae & Palmer's timeless sleepwear collections for babies, toddlers, and big kids

At Shae & Palmer, every pajama print begins the same way. Not with trends — with spaces.

Before I ever designed children's sleepwear, I spent years immersed in interior design, studying how color, pattern, and texture shape the way a room feels. I learned that the most meaningful spaces aren't loud or fleeting, they're thoughtful, layered, and lived in.

When I became a mom, I realized the same principles apply to what our children wear. Pajamas aren't just for bedtime. They're for morning snuggles, slow breakfasts, backyard adventures, and travel days that blur into one long, beautiful blur.

Designing Pajamas Like You'd Design a Room

In interior design, you never start with everything at once. You begin with a feeling. Is the space calm? Playful? Cozy? Elevated? We approach our prints the same way. Each collection is built around a mood — drawn from design studios, artisan fabric houses, and the kind of homes that feel effortlessly considered.

Rather than novelty graphics or trend-driven characters, we focus on soft, balanced color palettes, timeless motifs, and patterns that feel collected rather than manufactured. The goal is always the same: pajamas that feel just as beautiful in real life as they do on a screen.

Our prints often begin exactly the way an interior designer sources inspiration — vintage wallpaper samples, hand-drawn florals, textured textiles, natural landscapes, architectural details. We study scale carefully, ensuring each pattern feels refined on small bodies without overwhelming them. Like wallpaper, the repeat matters. The spacing matters. The flow matters.

Designing for Longevity, Not Trends

In both interiors and apparel, trends move fast. At Shae & Palmer, we design against that current. Our goal is for each piece to feel just as relevant next season, next year, and even when passed down to a younger sibling. By grounding our designs in interior-inspired aesthetics, we create pajamas that feel lasting, intentional, and truly lived in.

A well-designed home adapts to the people living in it. We believe children's clothing should do the same. That's why our bamboo pajamas are ultra-soft, breathable, and gentle on sensitive skin — moving through sleep, play, and everything in between. Paired with considered prints, they become something more than sleepwear. They become part of daily life.
